“It also feels really reassuring and reaffirming that the vision I had in mind was just not like a delusional vision; it was something I saw many years ago and I dared to dream… I was that person in my household to say why can’t we be the one in a million… and to have it come into fruition, it’s beautiful,” -Tanvir Rose
Tanvir Rose is a Canadian South Asian creative director, artist, dancer and movement architect who has performed at the Juno Awards and has worked with many big names such as AP Dhillon, Tesher and Diljit Dosanjh. The Universal Radio Network’s own Sapreet Buttar had the opportunity to chat with Tanvir about her path in performing arts, her personal milestones and achievements, her dance and how it’s perceived in the west and much more in this episode.
At the beginning of the interview, Tanvir talks about adjusting to life in Canada when she first moved to the country and wanting to get into arts (1:00), whether the South Asian community was supportive of her path into performing arts (2:37), how the west has accepted her personal integration of traditional Indian dances into her performances (3:40), and how she feels about the milestones and achievements she has obtained so far (4:56). Next, Tanvir and Sapreet discuss how she personally handles criticism on social media and how she maintains a positive outlook (6:33), how people can continue to follow Tanvir on her path and paving the way for more South Asian creatives (8:26), potential projects that are in the works (10:25), and what her dream collaboration would be in the future (11:43).
